How it works
A thoughtful route from research to reach.
Five connected stages take your work from an academic finding to clear content, relevant audiences, and opportunities for a wider conversation.
For individual researchers, departments, and research institutions.
The process, explained
Clear steps. A considered approach.
We begin with the evidence, shape it for public understanding, and connect it with relevant audiences.
The process is shared. The scope is personal to your research, stage, and goals.
- 01 / Intake & vet
Start with the research.
You share your research, and we screen it for soundness and public relevance. This helps establish what the findings say and why an audience beyond academia might care.
- Your part
- Tell us your research area, stage, and what you hope to achieve.
- What this moves forward
- A starting point for deciding whether and how to amplify your work.
- Research soundness
- Public relevance
- 02 / Translate
Make the findings clear.
We turn complex findings into accessible content. Depending on your package, this can include a news article, social posts, a pull-quote graphic, or a brief.
- Your part
- Help us understand the central finding and the context behind it.
- What this moves forward
- Public-facing assets shaped around the research and agreed scope.
- Plain language
- Content packaging
- 03 / Target
Identify who needs to hear it.
We identify the industries, institutions, or regulators your research is relevant to. Audience targeting gives the communication a focus beyond general visibility.
- Your part
- Share any sectors, communities, or organisations you want to reach.
- What this moves forward
- A clearer direction for relevant stakeholder outreach.
- Sector relevance
- Stakeholder focus
- 04 / Distribute
Bring the story into circulation.
We pitch media partners and, where included in your scope, reach out directly to relevant stakeholders. Media distribution and industry outreach offer different routes for your findings to travel.
- Your part
- Discuss the audiences and distribution reach that matter to your project.
- What this moves forward
- Media pitches and stakeholder outreach appropriate to your package.
- Media pitching
- Direct outreach
- 05 / Consult
Support what comes next.
Where needed, we provide ongoing support with policy framing, media strategy, and stakeholder connections. Consultancy can be scoped for a specific need or continued through a retainer.
- Your part
- Tell us where further guidance or ongoing support would be useful.
- What this moves forward
- A defined next phase of consultancy, if your project needs it.
- Policy & media support
- Ongoing consultancy
Before we begin
You do not need a finished communication plan.
A clear introduction helps us understand your starting point. These three things are enough to open the conversation.
Your research at a glance
The title or subject area, whether it is undergraduate, postgraduate, or published, and a short overview.
The people you want to reach
A public audience, a newsroom, an industry, an institution, or a policy conversation you want to inform.
The support you have in mind
A single study, a department pilot, a cohort of researchers, or ongoing communication support. It is fine to be unsure.
Keep the first enquiry high-level. Please do not paste confidential or unpublished findings into the form. If we work together, we can agree how to share the research.
A little more clarity
Questions before you start?
Here is what to expect from the process and how we can shape support around your work.
Does my research need to be published?
We support undergraduate, postgraduate, and published research. Work is screened for soundness and public relevance at intake; the service is not limited to journal publications or funded institutional studies.
Do all packages include the same deliverables?
No. The undergraduate package includes light packaging and a basic local media pitch. Postgraduate support adds a fuller asset bundle and targeted pitching. Published and institutional support includes a policy brief and consultancy. We agree the scope around your research stage and needs.
Is stakeholder targeting the same as media distribution?
They serve different purposes. Media pitching aims to bring a story to public audiences through relevant outlets. Stakeholder targeting identifies and reaches out to sectors, institutions, or regulators directly. The latter is included or quoted according to your scope.
How long does the process take?
Timing depends on the research, deliverables, urgency, and distribution reach required. Share any deadlines in your enquiry so that timing can be discussed as part of the project scope.
Can a university start with a pilot?
Yes. We welcome pilot partnerships with departments, research cohorts, and newsrooms. Universities and student bodies can discuss cohort rates, and institutional retainers can support a department's or centre's research output across the year.
What should I send in the first enquiry?
A short summary of your research or partnership idea is enough. Include your goals and any timing you have in mind. Please keep confidential or unpublished findings out of the contact form; arrangements for sharing research can be discussed if we work together.
Your next step
Bring the research. Let's find its audience.
Start with a study, a cohort, or a partnership idea. We can discuss the right scope and support for what comes next.
